Terms of Service
This is the agreement between you and Innotech. It covers what you may do in Mafia, what we owe you, what we will not tolerate, and how either of us can end it. By creating an account or playing, you accept it.
The short version. Play, don't harm. Lying is the game — abuse is not, and there is no tolerance for it. Coins are a licence to use features, not money, and they are never convertible back into money. We can suspend an account that ruins the game for other people, and you can leave whenever you want.
1.The agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and Innotech ("we", "us"), which operates the Mafia
app and the web version at mafia.me. You accept them when you create an account. The
Privacy Policy and the community rules are part of this
agreement.
You must be 16 or over to use Mafia. If you are not, you may not create an account, and we will delete one we find.
2.The service
Mafia is a social deduction game played by voice, in real time, with other people. You are dealt a hidden role, you talk, you vote, and one side wins. Games are run either by an automated moderator or by a player acting as moderator.
Playing needs a working internet connection, a microphone and other people. None of those three is something we can guarantee.
3.Your account
- You sign in with your own phone number. One account per person.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account, including anyone you hand your phone to.
- Do not buy, sell, rent, share or transfer an account, and do not sign in to someone else's.
- We may ask you to verify your number again if something looks wrong with the account.
- If you lose access to the number, tell us — it is the only way we can identify you.
4.What you may do with the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Mafia to play Mafia. That is the whole of it. You may not:
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law says you may;
- run it through an emulator farm, a modified client, an automation script or a bot;
- probe, scan, overload or attack our servers, or try to reach data that is not yours;
- scrape the service, or resell any part of it.
5.Conduct — and zero tolerance
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on this service. An account that harasses, threatens, sexualises or degrades another player — in voice, in a name, or in any other way — can be suspended immediately and permanently, without warning and without refund.
The community rules set out what is banned, how to report a player, how to block one, and what we do about it. They are binding, and they are written in plain language on purpose.
The line that matters most in a game built on deception: lying about your role is the game; attacking the person is not. Bluff, mislead, accuse, betray — all of that is play. Insults aimed at a human being, their body, family, ethnicity, religion, gender or nationality are not play, and no scoreboard excuses them.
6.Voice
- Everyone at your table hears you. Treat the microphone as a room full of strangers, because it is.
- We do not record or store game audio (see the Privacy Policy). Because there is no recording, moderation of what is said relies on reports from the people who were there — so report, and be specific.
- Do not record another player and publish it. You may not record, stream, or redistribute another player's voice without their agreement, and where your local law requires everyone's consent to record a conversation, you must have it. We act on reports of this.
- Do not play audio through your microphone that is not you talking: music, sound effects, other people's recordings, or anything designed to hurt someone's ears.
7.Fair play
- No outside channels. Coordinating a game through a second call, a chat group or the person sitting next to you defeats the entire game. It is cheating, and it is treated as such.
- No sharing hidden information from a game you are watching or have died in.
- No teaming against players in exchange for anything outside the game.
- No exploiting bugs. Tell us instead — [email protected]. We would rather fix it than ban you.
- No abandoning tables. Leaving mid-game repeatedly, or idling to farm rewards, breaks games for fifteen other people and is a suspendable offence.
- A player acting as moderator takes on a duty of fairness: no favouring friends, no removing a player to change the outcome.
8.Coins and purchases
- Coins are not money. They are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use features inside the game. They have no monetary value, they are not a currency, not a payment instrument, and not an investment.
- Coins cannot be cashed out, exchanged for money or anything of monetary value, transferred to another account, or inherited. There is no withdrawal, and there never will be.
- You get coins by playing, or by buying them through the app store. The store takes the payment and its own terms and refund rules apply to that transaction; we are not the merchant and cannot reverse a store charge.
- We may correct a balance that was created by a bug, a failed payment, a chargeback or fraud.
- We may change prices, what coins buy, and how they are earned. Coins already in your wallet keep working; what they cost tomorrow is not fixed today.
- Unspent coins are lost when you delete your account, and are forfeited when we terminate an account for breaking these Terms. They are not refundable in either case.
- If we ever withdraw the service entirely, we will say so in the app in advance and give you a reasonable period to spend what you hold.
9.Suspension and termination
You can stop at any time and delete your account from Settings → Delete account, or through this page if the app is gone. Deletion is final; read that page first.
We can restrict, suspend or terminate an account that breaks these Terms or the community rules. Where the breach is minor we warn or suspend temporarily; for abuse, threats, sexual content involving minors, cheating rings or attacks on the service, the ban is immediate and permanent. Where we can do so safely, we tell you what rule you broke.
If you believe we got it wrong, write to [email protected] and say so. A human will look at it.
10.Intellectual property
The game, its name, its artwork, its characters, its sounds, its code and its design are ours or our licensors'. Nothing here transfers them to you. You keep whatever rights you have in what you say, and you give us permission to relay it to the other players in your room — which is all the app does with it.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may act on it without owing you anything for it. If you think something in the game infringes your rights, write to us and we will look into it.
11.Availability, and what we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, that a game will never drop, or that any particular feature will exist forever. We may change, add or remove features, and we may take the service down for maintenance.
We are not responsible for the behaviour of other players. We are also not responsible for your device, your network, or your app store.
12.Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost coins, or loss caused by another player's conduct. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us through the store in the twelve months before the event.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death, personal injury, fraud, or our own gross negligence. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this section.
13.Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which Innotech is established, and disputes belong to the competent courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, the mandatory consumer protections of your own country still apply to you.
If one clause of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stands.
14.Changes
We may update these Terms. When a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to play after that means you accept it. If you do not, delete your account — that is always available to you. The version and date at the top say which text is in force.
15.Contact
[email protected] — for these Terms, for an appeal, or for a bug you would rather report than exploit. To report a player, use the report button in the app; it is faster.
